It’s all change at the moment: our lives are changing, this website is changing, everything’s on the move. I thought this might be a good time to have a quick glance back at last year - those halcyon days when we could still do weird exotic things like “go to the pub” and “have coffee with a mate” and “film in-person multi-performer spanking shoots” - for a nostalgic look at some of my personal highlights of 2019. This is entirely for that reason and not at all because I didn’t get round to it in January, of course.
#1: Even Teachers Make Mistakes
I may have been in this game a while now, but some of the real classics never grow old - and teacher/pupil is one of them. This take on the traditional school theme is an especial favourite of mine because it comes with a bit of a twist! I'm a bit proud of this still from the film. Mike’s aim is fantastic, and I love how clear and precise those six sharp stripes are.
#2: Behind The Scenes At ‘Mrs Smith’s Method’
We shot Mrs. Smith’s Method back in 2017, and it’s the most ambitious film we’ve ever made - I’m still extremely proud of it. Releasing this behind-the-scenes shoot last year made me proud too, though; of how much fun we all have on set, of the way we keep our ethics front and centre in the work we do and of the efforts we make to prioritise mutual care before, during and after. The combination of cheeky grins and a bare bum in this candid through-the-window snap is a little snapshot of that and it always makes me smile.
#3: In Big Trouble
We’re doing more filmed work than ever these days, but I still love putting together a gallery shoot. This one tells a story in a surprisingly moving way; there’s a lot of detail in every shot. My favourite is one that really has it all - you can see on our faces just what’s going through our minds, and this is a delightfully expressive photo.
#4: He Wouldn’t Spank Me
In this scene I played a disappointed sub whose promised weekend of naughtiness had ended in frustration - at least until I took matters into my own hands! Looking back on this was a lovely reminder of how much fun solo work can be, and also of how much I liked that characterisation; there was a coy, playful mischievousness to it that I think this photo sums up perfectly.
#5: Pandora’s Birthday Caning
For all I love playing characters, there’s something to be said for a scene that’s real - and this one was exactly that. Sarah and I had a great time making this, and getting to put out some content featuring me as myself is always a highlight for me. There’s a candid feeling to this photo; you can see that we’re both having such a great time we’ve half-forgotten the cameras are even there, and it’s a reminder that spanking is ultimately about fun and pleasure - as well as the roles we often take on around that.
#6: Carpe Posterium
We took a trip back in time for this Etonian-style scene. Much of my work features me at the femme-ier end of my range, so it was fantastic to embody something rather more masc in this shoot - plus, you know, silly Latin jokes. One of the great things about a tawse is the way your whole posterior lights up from it, and this photo is a lovely example of that!
Thank you to everyone who came through 2019 with us, and thank you again to all of you here for 2020 - and what a wild ride it’s turning out to be. We're not going anywhere - I mentioned in my previous post that I have plenty of shoots in the can for now, and we all love a bit of DIY solo action too - so we can keep the content coming right through the lockdown.

There’s always something endearing about behind-the-scenes material. I’m rather fond of that photograph of Robert Powell taken during the filming of Jesus of Nazareth: the actor, strapped to his cross, is wrapped in a blanket and being given a drink and a cigarette by a crew member between takes, which deliciously demystifies the whole thing. There are some similar enjoyably fourth-wall-breaking moments in this excellent look at the making of Mrs Smith’s Method: Pandora strolling into shot in modern t-shirt and knickers to give a bit of directorial advice; the discussions over how to achieve the impression of an utterly frenzied birching of Amelia Jane’s bare arse without going beyond what would be safe, sane and consensual for the actor.
Mrs Smith's Method, released a couple of years ago, is one of the more ambitious and elaborate Dreams of Spanking productions. It pushes many buttons: sly pokes at Victorian moralizing, hypocrisy and weirdness, especially via Molly Malone’s fabulous portrayal of a thrashing-obsessed, for-your-own-good religious loon; the ritualistic elements involved in hardcore discipline, such as kissing the implement and thanking your chastiser, and the closing blissed-out, yielding contrition. However, seeing the cast interact between takes as themselves is endearing and a good reminder that, no matter how dark the scene you want to play out might be, it can still be enjoyable fun entered into with full knowledge and great enthusiasm.
I’ve recently been dabbling in spanking shoots again myself and, along with the indisputable fun it is to yell at a cute girl and spank her pert bum till it’s glowing and hot, the laughs and hugs and the reassurance afterwards that she enjoyed it, that it was fun working together, and that we’re all good, are as important a part of the experience as the actual scene.
Severe punishment, the sort that comes with a few darker overtones of wretched humiliation and the crushing of a free spirit, may not be to everyone’s taste, though it’s definitely hotter than hot for a lot of people. I’d have to admit that my own preferences run more to the knockabout comedy end of the spanking scene, so I probably like this making-of version slightly more than the original. It’s also a good way of showing just how much work goes into the making of a porn film that’s a little bit more ambitious than most, and would be just as helpful as a masterclass in making your own historical romp, should you be so inclined. Mrs Smith Behind The Scenes is certainly a terrific companion piece to Mrs Smith’s Method: watch them back to back, if you have a free afternoon. As to whether you prefer to tantalise yourself with the making-of and then watch the film proper, or enjoy the feature first and then go back and see how it was all done, that’s entirely up to you.
Nearly two years ago I wrote a letter to Dreams of Spanking explaining why, with great reluctance, I needed to step away from the project for a while. At the time I wasn't sure if or when I would be able to come back to it. It was over a year before I updated the site again, with a new, sexier queer spanking porn film co-created with Chelsea Poe and Courtney Trouble. There was another pause, and since February this year we've released three new scenes - one a month, and we have another one lined up for this weekend. It seems that one way or another Dreams of Spanking has wiggled its way back into my schedule - and my heart.
I thought it was time to touch base and let you know what's going on with the site, and what you can expect.
In the immediate term, there's a new update coming this weekend - one for fans of our cinematic Victorian epic Mrs Smith's Method, showing Amelia Jane, Molly, Adele and I in a new light.
Beyond that, I have ten new scenes edited - all they need is images and previews, copy, trailers etc. I've been having good success this year with delegating those sorts of jobs (thanks Zak and Violet for the fantastic copy writing, and Nimue for the trailers!), and I'm currently trying out different image editors to see who's a good fit. Once I've put the finishing touches to the team we'll be able to continue to keep the site updated regularly with minimal input from me; all I'll need to do is edit the films themselves, plus whatever promotion I feel like doing.
Those of you who have been following my personal blog and social media posts will already know my happy news, but it's just occurred to me that I haven't shared it here explicitly yet. After trying to conceive for a year, I'm now eight months pregnant, and absolutely thrilled to be bringing a new life into the world with my amazing partner Felix. Our baby is due in July, and I couldn't be happier!
As well as gestating a human infant, I'm also gestating a book. It's about what we do with the sexual fantasies we have that are in tension with our politics and personal ethics, and how we resolve that tension. It's non-fiction, combining autobiography, personal essays, and academic writing. I've got 60000 words of it written so far, two thirds of that since January. Book and baby are currently racing to the finish line; I'm well aware that I'll need to substantially revise what I've written, but I'd love to have a zeroth draft of the manuscript finished before I give birth. To prioritise that project, and look after my body in the final weeks of my pregnancy, I'm stopping all other work and taking a writing sabbatical from 1 June. It's just going to be me, at home, writing and getting ready for the baby.
Long-form writing is deeply immersive and requires far more of my attention than pretty much any other endeavour I've found to date. Loading the project in my head takes a lot of wind-up time (and energy), and once it's loaded, it's really hard for me to focus on anything else. It's not convenient for me to multitask, or interleave writing the book with other projects.
For the next two months I'm going to focus on writing - which doesn't leave much attention spare for updating Dreams of Spanking. And from mid-July onwards (perhaps later, perhaps earlier - eek!), I'll be a fulltime parent and totally unavailable for anything else for a while. I intend to ease myself back into part-time work gently once my baby is a few weeks or months old, but I'm not putting myself under pressure to do so on any particular schedule. So if I want to update the site while I'm on parental leave, having a team of people to help me do it is absolutely essential. I'm in conversation with someone about taking on a project management role, so I can hand over that final step of keeping track of everything and making sure it all comes together in time to deliver you regular new spanking content.
With ten scenes in the bank, it looks like there'll be regular updates for a while - which is great! However, I haven't committed to a specific update schedule yet. One a month would take us to next March before I had to edit anything new. I'll almost certainly be able (and want) to edit new videos before then; I have eleven other scenes filmed and waiting to be edited, mostly dating from before I called a halt to the weekly Dreams of Spanking update schedule in 2017, and Nimue and I are planning to shoot at least one more next month. (I'm eager to shoot at least one pregnant spanking film before I give birth!)
I was wondering about whether that's enough content to go up to two updates a month, but that would only take us up until the end of October - which would put a lot of pressure on me to edit two videos a month from September onwards, on top of my parenting (and other) commitments. I don't want to commit to a schedule I can't sustain.
So it will probably work out somewhere between the two - at least one new scene a month, perhaps one every three weeks if I find myself shooting and editing new content more rapidly than I expect. It's been a while since Dreams of Spanking had a regular, predictable update schedule. Feels good right?

It’s an interesting thing to look at porn that is “not my thing” and try to see it objectively. Not surprisingly, this isn’t an easy thing to do. It makes sense that we process stimuli we find pleasing more readily and more directly than stimuli that doesn’t quite float our boat. However, the photo gallery In Big Trouble is beautifully made and has enough artistic merit to stand alone, regardless of one’s personal tastes.
Porn is a faction of the overall canon of contemporary art, in my opinion, and I say that as someone whose education is in fine art and critical theory. Many people would disagree, but when the crafting and production of pornography is as considered as its themes and narrative, like the films and photos here on Dreams of Spanking, I’d be hard pressed to dismiss it as too low-brow to be art. In Big Trouble is a beautiful example of visual storytelling that is highly narrative, emotionally demonstrative and visually satisfying to the viewer.
I’m not privy to the details of the creative process or art direction behind a scene like In Big Trouble, but it’s clearly well considered with captivating details. The inspiration for this custom hard spanking photo story came from a client with a particular vision, based on tales of his ex lover’s accounts of hard caning and OTK spanking conducted at home in her younger years. He said,
“Her stories to me of being punished were always the most engaging when she was describing the more ritualistic preparations of being led to the living room, being made to assume the position, being told to lift her dress, being instructed to lower her panties, and then later being ordered to lay down over his knees."
So much of what is described and desired in this scene is internally felt; both by the client as he relives his response to his lover’s stories, as well as the actual scene as it unfolds, grippingly portrayed by Pandora Blake and Mike Pain. Nuanced focus, attention to detail, and the rich storytelling of photography allows the viewer to be transported to the dining room, where paternal hand and rattan cane befall Pandora's tender bottom over and over. I found myself holding my breath as I moved through the images, struck a bit dumb by the intensity and anxious discomfort I felt as the story unfurled. I could feel the heat of the welts, the humiliation of her bottom being bared, and the potion of fear and obedience she must have felt to be able to resist flinching, kicking or squirming.
The artistry of these photos is, for me, in the discomfort that they elicited in me. Not all art is pretty or comfortable. These images are striking (ooops, what a pun!) even though they are not what I turn to for visual titillation. How then, did they resonate so deeply for me? I understand the client’s desire to have that tension highlighted: to experience, indirectly, his lover's humiliation and fear, as well as the unquestioned power and authority of her disciplinarian. These are potent archetypes and themes, because of the power dynamics of the domestic relationship and the ritualised experience of punishment.
This photo gallery made me pause, examine and interrogate my responses. It made me reflect on the nature of the relationships and fetishes depicted and the powerful emotions they provoke. In short, it got me thinking, and it made me feel something. Although that is not the same as being turned on, I was certainly stimulated. And that, folks, is what both porn and art are meant to do.
I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for strict teacher/naughty pupil spanking scenes, and Even Teachers Make Mistakes pushes all the right buttons. There’s the décor – crossed canes on the wall, Union Jacks to show the upholding of Proper British Values, and all the rest of it. There’s Pandora’s choice of bad-girl attire – super short denim shorts, and a tight Ace of Spades t-shirt. There’s the ritual ‘Oh but Sir!’, and the ‘Don’t answer back, get those knickers down!’ And then there’s the caning itself, expertly delivered and beautifully paced.
I like it when scenes like this are done with a knowing twinkle in the eye of each performer. In this film, I love watching Pandora’s face as the caning progresses; her little yelps and gasps for breath, and the way she chews her lip once the pain kicks in. I know some people find school caning fare a bit camp, but my tastes have always run to kink that is fun for all concerned - and despite Mike's strictness at the start, this film delivers. I particularly like the ending, which I won’t spoil for you except to say that it’s probably not quite what you might expect.
Over the years, I’ve done a fair bit of school-themed play and, of all the spanking things I’ve ever done, for me school scenes always seem to tend to end up with everyone involved nearly helpless with laughter, even while there are also tears of pain from whoever I’m whacking. I love to elicit tears in a reaction to a particularly hard stroke – but laughter and tears are more closely linked than some people think. No one actually gets to the point of giggling in Even Teachers Make Mistakes, but I couldn't help observing the occasional hint of enjoyment or trace of a smile which didn't quite seem entirely in character. For me, these moments of joy bubbling up through the strict disciplinary facade of the scene make the whole thing more enjoyable. I also spotted what I reckon was a hint of imminent tears from Pandora - which I liked even more.
Both Mike and Pandora clearly know one another well and are comfortable working together; apparently Danielle K, who was behind the camera, is a friend of Pandora's who is new to Dreams of Spanking. On the strength of this scene, I would say she fits right in – it’s a beautifully shot short film. I’m tempted to go get my cane, now, and see if there’s a willing bottom available, so I can practice some more until my tramlines are as precise as Mike Pain’s.
Since Dreams of Spanking launched, I've been impatient to edit and release The Victorian Brothel. I chose the image of me over Tom's knee, wearing bloomers and a corset, as the homepage header image back when I designed the site in the summer of 2011. I always intended to create a rotating gallery of images on that header, showing a wider variety of scenes, but somehow I never found time.
I was incredibly proud of this film when we shot it. This was my second ever shoot as producer/director, a day with Zille Defeu, her husband Duncan, our friend Jay, Tom and me. The first Dreams of Spanking shoot had just been me, Jay and Tom. Those early shoots were a steep learning curve for me.
Until The Victorian Brothel, every scene was a crash course in new aspects of filming that I had to work out from scratch. There was a lot of stopping and starting. Trying to juggle the mental demands of directing with the physical and emotional challenges of bottoming on camera, I found it hard to avoid getting stressed. But The Victorian Brothel was our final scene of the day, and it was the first scene I'd produced that felt like it went well at the time. With Duncan, Zille and Jay behind the camera, Tom and I got into character and the roleplay flowed. It felt as natural as the roleplay scenes we played in private. Trusting our friends to capture our live improvisation, I was able to immerse myself in the scenario, get fully into character, and surrender to the beating without having to balance that headspace with other, more technical concerns. As a result I was able to take a much harder spanking, paddling and caning than I usually can while performing/directing, and I was really happy about it.
That was over seven years ago, in early December 2009. The reason I didn't edit this film before the site launched, along with the other two scenes we shot that day - Caned in Jodhpurs and Liberated Ladies of the Jazz Age - is simple. The Victorian Brothel was originally written as part of a series of films entitled The Adventures of Molly Brown. I'd written several episodes of it; this was the fourth chapter in the story. I hadn't had a chance yet to shoot episodes one to three, but the shoot with Zille and Tom was a perfect opportunity to shoot the episode in which my character meets his for the first time. I very much intended to shoot the others at some point, however; and I wanted to wait and release them in story order.
Sadly, I never got a chance to film the backstory. Episodes one, two and three fell by the wayside. And when I realised that the age verification policy in the Digital Economy Bill was going to put a cut-off point on my ability to keep the site alive in its current form, I finally accepted that I wasn't going to get the chance to shoot them any time soon. Meanwhile, I'm trying to release as much of the content I care about while the site is still legal in the UK.
So Molly Brown's story starts here: with her first appointment with a new customer in Mrs Slater's brothel. An urchin who grew up in the streets and the workhouse, Molly was sent out to work for various undesirable trades, but somehow always found herself sent back to face the the steely glare - and the hard leather strap - of the beadle. When Mrs Slater turned up to see if he had any new girls for her, he packed her off to the brothel - and Molly's life entered a new chapter.
Scrubbed to within an inch of her life, Molly began her transformation into a girl Mrs Slater's customers might find appealing. She earned her share of licks from the madame, too; but it was nothing compared to the beadle's strong right arm. When Mrs Slater saw how well Molly took her punishment, she thought to send her to one of her more eccentric clients, a gent with a predilection for administering corporal punishment to the plump bare bottoms of comely wenches. Molly lacked the elegance and accomplishment of other girls, but she was resilient and quick-witted, and Mrs Slater saw the potential to train her up to please her more unusual clientele.
Molly took well to Mrs Slater's training, and was finally declared ready to meet her first customer. But although Molly is no stranger to taking a beating, she still is not particularly inclined to behave submissively. Sparks fly between her and the gent as he tries to bend her to his will, and her quick tongue and stubborn nature get her into more trouble than she'd bargained for.
So that's Molly's backstory. You never know, it's not impossible I might be able to shoot the previous episodes sometime in the future - although perhaps I'll look too different by the time the stars align, and I have affordable access to the venues and cast I need. In the meantime I think this scene stands well enough on its own. Although I can tell you now that the next chapter has also been shot, and will be released in the coming weeks, starring myself, Tom, and a new character played by Leia Ann Woods...
Coming back to this film to edit it, seven years after it was filmed, was a weird experience. Tom and I split up three years ago, and it was very strange to watch us on camera. I almost felt like I was watching someone else; and yet in other ways seeing us together all those years ago felt very real, and very personal.
I remember writing this scene for us to play. Although Tom plays a very overbearing, bullying character, and to the uninitiated perhaps this scene might be edgy enough to seem non-consensual, I can tell you for certain that this scenario was my fantasy, and performing it was an authentic act of self-expression. But it was fascinating and somewhat dissonant to watch this recording, a piece of my own personal history, and reflect on how much has changed since then.
There are some aspects of this film that I would definitely do differently nowadays. For instance, the way that Tom's patriarchal character throws around the word "whore" makes me wince, now, as an advocate of sex workers' rights who is fighting against stigma and whorephobia. These days I would seriously consider before I took on the role of a historical sex worker, but back then I didn't think twice.
Editing this, I had the opportunity to reflect on how far Dreams of Spanking has come - not only politically, but technically. The Victorian Brothel was shot before I knew to record audio separately from the cameras, or to use face lights. It was a frustrating edit in some ways, as I struggled to salvage a legible soundtrack from two cameras that both had audio isses - one picking up a lot of wind noise (from where I have no idea, given we were indoors), the other plagued by mechanical clicks and whirrs from the operation of the camera. But I feel like I've managed to massage it into a shape that communicates my vision, hopefully without too many technical distractions. I hope you'll forgive any that remain.
For me, the power of this film comes from the interaction between the characters. It's a hard corporal punishment scene, both physically and emotionally - the intensity brings me/Molly to tears towards the end. But not only is the spanking itself severe, the atmosphere of the scene is rife with tension. The scenario unfolds as a battle of wills between a cruel gentleman with particular tastes, and a spirited wench who doesn't know when to keep her mouth shut. I certainly took more strokes, and harder, than if Molly Brown had been submissive than rebellious. But I loved it.
Life has moved on since Tom and I filmed this scene. We are no longer together, and there have been many changes for both me and Dreams of Spanking. But this film holds a special place in my heart. It shows what Tom and I did best - hard, accurate spanking that pushes me to my limits, quick-witted dialogue, sparks flying between two strong characters, and Tom's trademark brand of elegant, articulate dominance.
When I filmed this scene, it seemed to encapsulate everything I wanted to achieve with Dreams of Spanking: immersive roleplay between real life partners, lush costumes and locations, and imaginative historical settings with a quirky sense of humour and a rich attention to detail. That was why I chose a still from this scene as our banner image - and why, although much has changed since then, I'm still very pleased to share it with the world.
Our latest male/male spanking video Turn That Music Down is a domestic punishment scene starring Fauni Cate and Richard Barton. In this hot little film Fauni plays a rebellious young metal-head who plays his music far too loud at home. After yet another call from neighbours complaining about the noise, Dr Barton decides to make sure that this time he will get to the bottom of things. He is determined that the punishment, and the lesson, will be well learned.
Fauni and Richard have a really great on screen connection that plays perfectly into this scene. The combination of Richard’s frustration at having to apologise to yet another neighbour, and Fauni’s resentful attempt to avoid punishment, creates a lovely sense of suspense. I found myself watching closely, waiting to see who would ‘break’ first. As someone who can be a bit of a brat I really felt for Fauni; he has a "I know I’m wrong but I have things to do and you won’t really hurt me” attitude which Ifound very familiar. But the side of me that loves dishing out a punishment was totally with Richard on this one; sometimes you just need to make sure your lesson is delivered in such a way that makes sure it sinks home.
Fauni’s protests, and complaints as the punishment starts, are lovely but not as lovely as his mumbled apologies that get louder and clearer as his punishment continues. There is a moment where he kicks his legs up, and is quickly reminded that he needs to keep those heavy boots on the floor and away from Richard's face. I love it when a sub wriggles while they’re being punished, even though they know it will only increase their punishment; they just can’t help it. It’s why I don’t always use restraints, watching a spankee wince and apologise as they try to control their involuntary movements is so much fun, and it is one of the things that I loved so much in this scene. At various points Fauni is lying over Richard's lap completely helpless, dangling and kicking with his legs in the air, and it is such a sexy position for a spanking.
The slight gleeful grin we see flash across Richard’s face as he punctuates his demands - that the young man gets some headphones - with spanks is terrific. Almost as though he slipped out of character for a second and was just revelling in the sheer delight of delivering a thorough spanking. He also leaves Fauni’s bottom a very gorgeous shade of red, you can even see slight bumps and purpling at the end. This is a simple and very appealing m/m spanking scene between an older man and a cute younger boy, and the punishment is hard enough to make an impression.
Back to School is a super sexy two-part scene starring Molly Malone and Nimue Allen. Nimue is a young teacher who has started working at her girlfriend Molly’s old school, and when Molly comes to pick her up one day they decide to have a little after hours fun.
I love everything about this scene, and I am not alone in that love. It's received more than one fan post; such as this one by Onanist-online, who described it as "one of the sexiest, and beautiful spanking films I have seen in a good while."
What makes this film, I think, is the sexy and intimate relationship between Molly and Nimue's characters. Although they aren't a couple in real life, the chemistry sizzles between them. They are so completely and comfortably at ease with each other, and that familiarity makes this a real treat to watch. Alex Reynolds, writing in her blog Spanking Wishes, commented that "because of the obviously strong chemistry between Molly and Nimue, and the romantic elements in the scene, it feels legitimately intimate.” From lingering kisses to sensual caresses, the pair obviously enjoy the opportunity to play together on camera, and seem completely uninhibited.
I particularly thrilled to hear Molly reminiscing about her school days, explaining how she didn’t necessarily enjoy the spankings she received but would still be thinking about them later in the day. This film is a thoughtful exploration of the difference between the fantasy of a non-consensual childhood school punishment, and the sexy reality of an adult couple enjoying consensual spanking roleplay.
Combining these two sides to spanking gives this scene a taboo element. Spanking Wishes picked up on this; "They’re actually *at* the school, snuck away to have this spanking adventure in a common room. Which is an incredibly hot idea.” I have to say I totally agree. The very appealing way Nimue persuades Molly to put on an old school gym kit (complete with white cotton knickers and knee high socks), adds to the taboo feeling of this scene. While the teasing little conversation about the kit adds to the naughty sexiness, it also reminds us that these are two consenting adults - even if they are playing in a real school, with real school uniform. There is something beautiful and very hot about the smile on Nimue’s face when Molly reappears, blushing, in the gym kit.
I adore the way they connect with each other throughout the spanking, switching roles and positions. Taking time to kiss, stroke, and whisper to each other. They look like they are really enjoying themselves. This connection and consideration of each other just makes the whole scene that much hotter.
I love the moment when Nimue is strapping Molly to the spanking bench, and Molly quips “Don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere”. The bench is a gorgeous antique that evokes so many suggestions of old school halls, Headmaster's offices, and school students tightly strapped in place for punishment.
